Welcome to my travel blog.

The first thing you need to know about me is that I am a 22 year old from a dingy part of north east England. Of course I’m talking about Sunderland. The city whose football club features on Netflix which shows our team getting double relegated from the top league In the country, to the 3rd top (league one). The show, titled ‘Sunderland til I die’ (I bloody hope not) perfectly captures our mackem spirit and is definitely worth watching!

The reason I’ve talked so much about Sunderland is because I have an incredible love/hate relationship with my hometown. If I had to summarise Sunderland It wouldn’t be very positive. However, it’s my hometown and unfortunately, I love the place. These feelings for the city become apparent when I explain the second thing you need to know about me.

I am just starting perhaps the scariest adventure of my life so far; my PhD. The research is focused solely on improving my little northern hometown through its tourism image and brand. I wont bore you with academia however, I’ll be happy to talk about it later on in my adventure.

The final thing that is imperative for this blog is that I love traveling. The feeling I get when I touchdown in a new place ready to embrace new cultres, try new food and meet interesting people is one that cannot be beaten.
