It’s not until someone asked you to tell them where you’ve travelled too that you suddenly cannot remember any places at all in the world.

I saw a blogger that I follow post their version of this over the weekend and I just really wanted to jump on the bandwagon. You can read the post from An Orcadian Abroad HERE. I had so much fun reading hers that I decided to make my own. And making this it really allowed me to look back through all my adventure photos and have a right good time of reminiscing about all the amazing places I’ve been. So now i’m feeling really positive and lucky for all the places i’ve been!

Given the weird time we are all in I really recommend you make your own, whether you end up posting it, or doing it for your own knowledge just on a piece of paper, it is a really positive thing to do. You can fill each letter with a country, state, city, town or province (and I cheated and put a neighbourhood or two in there but its my blog so shh). By doing this, it has also gave me a target of visiting somewhere that starts with a Q or X as these are the only two I unfortunately couldn’t fill.

So without further ado, here is my Around the World in A-Z.

A is for Amsterdam, Holland

Amsterdam is a truly phenomenal place with so much more to offer that its reputation of drinking, smoking and legal prostitution gives it. If you haven’t been before that I truly recommend you visit, and do so with an open mind. There is a reason Amsterdam is a cultural capital of Europe, it is incredibly rich with every definition of culture.

B is for Barcelona, Spain

Ahh, Barcelona. This was the first overseas adventure just me and Shaun (without adult supervision) went on back in 2016, and it was where we were bitten by the travel bug. Looking back, we thought we were professional travellers at the time but really we were so a. I would love to visit again now, (or at least when life resumes) and experience it again!

C is for Croatia

Last year on our backpacking trip we stopped off at the Croatian Capital, Zagreb. You can read about Our Zagreb Adventure here. It was a truly amazing place to visit and it has only made us want to visit more of the amazing country. Dubrovnik is absolutely on my list!

D is for Disney

Disney is one of my favourite places ever. We were meant to be going to Florida in May this year but unfortunately it has been cancelled due to the circumstances. However, I have been very lucky in my life to have been to Disney California, Orlando and Paris and loved it every time! I have so many amazing memories of the Disney Magic and hope I never grow out of it!

E is for Edinburgh, Scotland

Now then, the very first trip I made to Edinburgh was on a college field trip and I absolutely fell in love with the city. Since then I have been back a few times, especially at Christmas because of its amazing Christmas market. I really love the place and would go back in a heartbeat.

F is for Finland

You Back in 2018, on our annual autumn backpacking trip, we sailed from Tallinn, Estonia to Helsinki in Finland. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with Finland. I’m not sure what I was expecting but it was such a friendly place. Also, it had an amazing zoo!

G is for Greece

Now this takes me back. We did a proper package holiday to Rhodes, Greece back in 2016. The town of Rhodes was amazing and we really enjoyed it. I still always recommend for people to visit, if you’re into that kind of sun and beach holiday. There was enough for us to as we both hate sunbathing. However, it was just so HOT. Whenever I think back to that holiday, this night is the first that comes to mind. We were walking back to our hotel after a nice meal and few drinks and just happened to catch the sky turning colour. It was so beautiful.

H is for Hungary

On our backpacking trip last year, our first stop was Budapest, Hungary. I can honestly say it was one of my favourite places on this list. The city exceeded all my expectations and I truly fell in love with it. Feel free to read all about Our Budapest Adventure. If you haven’t been, you really should!

I is for Italy

Italy is hands down my favourite country in the world. I know that’s a bold statement to make, especially considering i’m not massively well travelled outside of Europe. But I absolutely love the place. Its so rich in culture, and not to mention utterly breathtaking. I think my favourite place so far has got to be Garda, and the Italian lakes region which was amazing when we visited last year. However, I did also really love Venice in all its Instagrammable glory! I also wrote a blog post talking all about Why Italian Adventures will ruin your Life which is worth a read.

J is for Jesmond, Newcastle, UK

J is one I really struggled with. However, I settled on Jesmond. For those of you who don’t know, Jesmond is a area just outside of Newcastle. The reason I chose this as there is a cake shop that my sister works at which I really enjoy visiting. When life gets back to normal (and of course you’re in the area) Cake Stories Jesmond is definitely worth a visit. And the area of Jesmond is really nice to walk around. It’s full of unique places and would fall under that ‘hipster’ kinda vibe.

K is for Krakow, Poland

Krakow is one of those places you simply have to visit at least once in your life time. I’ve visited a few Polish cities and love them all. The polish people are super friendly and welcoming, something I think many people might not expect. Krakow and its huge square with restaurants all around it is an amazing place to people watch and if you can, walk up to the castle at sunset and watch it change colours!

L is for London, UK

The capital of the UK has a very special place in my heart, for a number of reasons. You can read all about that in my blog post all about My Adventures to the Capital. London is just a very special place, and one that no matter how many times I visit, I still have the same feeling of not quite seeing everything and wanting to go back. There is always something new to see when I return.

M is for Malta

When this is all over and we are free to travel, VISIT MALTA! You won’t regret it. Malta is the country that the Italians go to on holiday. I feel like I need to stress that point again. The Italians, leave their beautiful, cultural country to go to Malta. It is on another level. The people were so friendly, the food was amazing, and every place we visited on the island was completely breathtaking. Visit Malta!

N is for Neushwanstein Castle, Bavaria, Germany

When Walt Disney was designing the unforgettable Disney Castle, he used Neushwanstein as his template. It is an utterly amazing place. Full of dark history and incredible views. Truly it is worth going all the way to Germany just to see the two castles here. And its one of those amazing bucket list places that you have got to visit before you die.

O is for Orlando, Florida, USA

I am aware that Disney has already been on this list, however, Orlando is sneakily making a second appearance (Partially because I couldn’t think of a second ‘O’). Orlando Florida is another place that has a really special place in my heart. I was really lucky as a child to go on holidays with my family there a few different and I just have lots of amazing memories there. Hopefully we can re-book our cancelled holiday (we were meant to be going on in May) and make even more memories!

P is for Prague, Czech Republic

I visited Prague on a University field trip in my second year of studies. It was a really beautiful city full of cute bars and restaurants, and an undeniably rich history. Walking across Charles Bridge is definitely something you have to do before you die!

Q (Pending)

I was stuck for ages trying to come up with somewhere beginning with Q but i really don’t think I’ve been anywhere that will fit. If you have somewhere, I’m really keen to know where it is!

R is for Riga, Latvia

Riga, the capital of Latvia. It was our second stop on our trip back in 2018. I’m not going to lie, it was somewhere I had never before thought about visiting. However, now that I have i’m so glad I did. It was incredible interesting to see the city and explore its very recent history

S is for Sunderland, UK

How could I write a post like this without featuring my home city. Sunderland is an interesting place, if you look hard enough. When everything goes back to normal, I plan on writing a lot more posts about this amazing city and our rich history so stick around for those!

T is for Tallinn, Estonia

Tallinn was a really interesting capital city to visit as it showed so many signs of its recent history despite being such a nice place to visit. With it being so close to Russia, and being occupied by them until not that long ago, I think people may be a little reluctant to visit. Which worked out perfectly for us as it was lovely and quiet when we were there! I really recommend visiting that part of the world as its not as sketchy as you might think and the people are incredibly welcoming.

U is for Upsala, Sweden

While we were visiting Stockholm back in 2018, we took a day trip to the university town of Upsala. The contrast between the two cities was night and day. While Stockholm was crazy busy and super expensive, Upsala was considerably cheaper and much more quiet. It was really enjoyable to wander round the town centre and is worth a visit.

V is for Vienna, Austria

Vienna. I simply cannot find the words to describe this city. Culture capital of Europe. I feel like it is a place that you have to see for yourself to understand just how insanely cultured this is. By every definition of the phrase, it truly is a culture capital. I bogged about my time there in a three part trilogy called The Vienna Adventures. There you can read part one and follow our time there. It was simply an incredible place. MUST VISIT.

W is for Warsaw, Poland

This is the second time Poland has came up on this list, but it could have came up so much more! Poland is a really incredible place and I truly recommend you visit! And the capital city is a multifaceted place, with a severe contrast between its metropolitan new town and historical old town.

X Is another one I think I have nothing for. If you have something for X I would be really keen to know what it is.

Y is for Yosemite National Park, California, USA

I don’t think I need to say much about this one. Its like the lakes district on steroids. Completely and utterly outstandingly beautiful. Just go. Get on a plane. Sleep under the stars. See a bear. Do it.

Z is for Zugspitze, Germany

The Zugspitze is the highest mountain in Germany. It is 2,962 m above sea level. And back in 2018, we took a cable car right to the top. And it was just insane. It was -27 degrees C at the top. But it was worth the lack of oxygen and risk of frostbite to see that view.
