Edinburgh, The Capital of Scotland is full of amazing places to eat and drink! So if you are planning a trip up soon and want to know where to go, I have put together this list not only of all the places we visited but of all the suggestions I received before going too!
I do have more Edinburgh posts planned and on the way soon so if you want to see those, then drop your email address below to be notified when that post goes live.
Places we visited
This was one of the most highly rated places when searching for places to eat. And while the food was good, it didn’t completely blow us away (apart from the bill which was pretty high for what we got). However, you could taste the freshness of the pizza dough and the flavours were pretty unique so if you enjoy that kind of thing then give it a go.
If you’re looking for a cosy spot to grab a quick bite and good coffee then Procaffination is a great shout. It’s just off the royal mile which makes it perfect if you’re exploring the old town of Edinburgh.
If you are planning to stop here then I really recommend getting the soup because it was delicious and just what I needed on a cold day in Edinburgh!
Address: 4 St Mary’s St, Edinburgh EH1 1SU
Open Hours: 10am-6pm 7 days a week (according to google)
This was without a doubt my favourite place we visited during our time away in Edinburgh. Paradise Palms Is a vegetarian restaurant but don’t let that put you off going!
The burgers were amazing and honestly, I couldn’t believe they were in fact vegetarian. But the cocktails were delicious, the staff were lovely and the whole vibe was really cool. So if you’re just looking for drinks I would recommend trying this place!
If you are going, I’d think about booking your table as the place wasn’t huge and I’d imagine it fills up pretty quickly!
Any nerds in the room listen up. At the cocktail geeks, you will be transported into whatever world they are serving. Right now it is Witcher themed, and when I say ‘themed’ i mean they have gone all out!
From the decor to the menu, the types of cocktail (apparently they represent the elixirs from the actual game), even the receipt was themed!
Their last theme was Jurassic Park and coming up next from February is going to be a superhero and villain themed. The drinks were a little expensive however to see Shaun nerd out was worth it. So for that reason, I’d give it a go if I were you!
Their current theme and open hours are available on their website.
Now then I cannot comment on the food here as we didn’t try any of it, but what we saw of other people ordering it did look incredible. it is a very meat orientated place (hence why we didn’t eat there). The cocktails, on the other hand, I can comment on!
We ordered 6 different cocktails all of which were delicious. Now then, I can’t remember the flavours or the names of any of them, which I suppose is the point in drinking multiple cocktails! but from what I can remember they were fairly reasonably priced.
If you want to book a table or have a look at their menu then visit their website.
For many people, a trip to Edinburgh means finding a proper cosy pub to hide in, and The Queens Arms is just that. We found it by accident and are so glad we did, we went back twice.
The pub is just off George Street so if you’re in the new town it’s a great place to stop! it has great beers on tap and the food was delicious. Not to mention the staff were so helpful and lovely.
It’s got great decor too, it really feels like you’re sitting in someone’s front room!
It was really busy though so if you do fancy visiting I would suggest booking a table which you can find information for on their website.
You can have a look at their menu here.
We also ate and drank at Edinburgh’s Christmas Market which I have a load of information on, on the review post I did about it. So if you’re going at Christmas time, have a look at that post here!
Places YOU suggested
Now while there are so many peoples we never got to visit I still wanted to create a list of those suggestions so that others can use them. So I have no experience of these places so I can’t tell you what they’re like. But you can try them out for yourself.
- 10 to 10 in Dehli
- Fudge Kitchen
- The Dome (booking is essential as we couldn’t get booked at all!)
- The Naked Bakery
- Caley Picture House
- Gourmet Mash Bar
I hope you have enjoyed this post! And remember I do have one more huge Edinburgh post on the way so if you are interested then drop your email below to be notified when it goes live. Thank you for reading!
